I was recently diagnosed (FULLY) with ADHD at my college last year, somewhere before Christmas. Technically, I was diagnosed earlier when I was younger... about in my middle school years. My old Family Doctor diagnosed me with it but my dad brushed it off and I lived with it my entire life. Honestly, it didn't bother me one bit. Screw taking medication, I am glad I don't take it to "help me" with my life... I have learned to adapt from the issues with ADHD, such as social life and work/school life... but I learned to work AROUND it, and I am proud of it. I may be slightly different and less social (NOT anti-social, I love my online friends more than those in person *it's easier for met to communicate and be myself and its NOT cause I am talking behind a screen*) but it makes me who I am.

I mean, sure, I had problems in school when it comes to work and assignments, projects and ESPECIALLY working in groups... making friends and keeping them... but hey? I grew to accept and like my solitary life away from crowds and keeping only a small bunch of friends, even if they come and go. Sure, I tend to ramble both online typing and in real life, talking too fast and loudly, awkwardly talking to new people and being shy... but that is just me. I am proud of being myself, ADHD related or not.

On the upside, I am very creative and well-focused in my own point of view. There are actual benefits to having ADHD ( www.healthline.com/health/adhd… ) and some of these things are actually a good thing, once you look back at your past and current state. I am super focused on what I truly love, which is writing my own novel series *technically too many to count, probably have 10+ series so far since my early high school life*. Don't let ADHD bring you down and think that it's ruining your life... think positively and do what YOU love to do, cause you have your own focus and views of life and have passions that will drive you forward in life. Take hold of what you love and don't let the simplest things bring you down or stop you with what you love.

I was diagnosed earlier this year and I'm on ritalin and seroquel for it. It does suck but since you can't grow out of it there's nothing you can really do about it other than take your medication.

A lot of people tend to over look or don't know that people with ADHD or ADD have positive qualities too:

Am I the only one here actually glad to have ADHD? (yes i have been diagnosed) I mean sure it can be annoying as heck at times but I mean it makes me more creative and I notice things other people don't. It's not all bad. I've found ways to study that suites my ADHD way of thinking and lately I've been getting lots of Bs and As so don't give up hope, you just need to find a study way that suites you :)

glad to see someone cares about ADHD. but unfortunately i must agree with those below. ADHD only becomes a problem when combined with abuse and/or poor education. generally ADHD kids learn just as fast (if not faster) as "normal" kids (no-one is normal, for no two people are the same. how i hate that word) unless the teacher is close minded and believes all children are equal. the only times i (or any of my ADHD friends) have had trouble learning is when the teacher is treating the class as a "standard" (hate that word as well) group and forces the class to all go along at the same pace, so that the ADHD kids either finish early and have nothing to do but be disruptive or can't understand the principal in time and fail. so in summary, best way to stop the problems with ADHD is to raise awareness about abuse and "enlighten" those teachers who are close minded.

amendment: the hate towards ADHD and the unjustified association of ADHD with downs syndrome should also be rectified by a few facts.
1) Albert Einstein was reputedly (unconfirmed) ADHD by later experts
2) ADHD does NOT equal retardedness and is no way associated with downs (genetically, they are completely unrelated. downs is caused by the condition known as Tri-chromi 23 causing a mental imbalance among other things whereas ADHD is caused by a select number of genes mutating that causes the brain to process data faster and also lead to a slight increase in adrenalin levels, leading to the classic Hyperactivity)
3) due to the fact that ADHD results in higher brain activity, ADHD people can actually be smarter than one of equal age. meaning ADHD can be a blessing as opposed to a curse like so many think

There's a bunch of webpages designated to tell you which color goes to which thing, I just checked a few of them (to make sure it was the same on more than one so nobody got it wrong somewhere along the way) and it turns out it's purple - purple is also the color for a few other things, but they are usually similar, they keep them grouped mostly. I don't have any specific links anymore, but you can just google it - awareness colors or awareness ribbons/colors or something, that's what I did. Sometimes the sites dedicated to actual disorder itself, will tell you, or will have it's colors all over it - some disorders actually share two colors, it gets very in-depth, there are a lot of awareness ribbons in the world ;x

Whats' so bad about ADHD? :T
although its the lowest form of autism in the spectrum,
Its' usually not a serious issue like autism or retardation.
Many people that have ADD, and ADHD usually tend to learn faster then the "average" person. Meaning they can be smarter too. So i'm not sure if it really deserves an awareness ribbon.
That doesn't imply you should remove the stamp at all. I just found it odd....
I mean yeah ADHD/ADD can be bad but usually its the parents fault for not properly teaching the kid to control itself. Medication can help aswell, also purple is gay awareness i believe....Sorry if i sound like I'm picking , Its just that this is nothing serious compared to moderate-servre autism.

Yeah I actually agree with this. Although, I was untreated for a very long time, and I got a lot of hate from people that didn't understand the way I behaved. It IS nothing terrible, but awareness. Actually I'm really not sure where I'm going with this.

I have bpd personally, but in my mind - if it's got an awareness ribbon/color - it can haz a stamp too, I'm sure people with ADHD face their fair share of problems, maybe they feel nothing out of the ordinary.
Either way, it gets a stamp.
I don't know why anyone thinks it shouldn't have a stamp, I didn't make up it's ribbon or it's color - I just made a stamp for the pre-existing, maybe someone would like to show their pride or raise awareness with it - which is a good enough reason for me.

Du-dude. I have ADHD. Its' nothing terrible. your just hyperactive or nervous easily. Its' not something that would be a destructive issue unless the child is neglected .... People just literally stamp others for a "disorder"
They say that we are having more kids with autism and add/adhd more than ever. No, we just are starting to record medical problems more than ever. and many school stamp the children and recommend medication or special ed classes just for their own benefits. True, many kids feel out with a 'disorder' such as ADHD, but if they were never labeled medically, I'm sure no one would find anything wrong in them.....I have a friend who is bipolar and she can be very hyper then drowsy or ruff housed...

Like, do I have it? - no. do I know what it is - yes.
Do I have to have it myself to make a stamp for it in your world?! xD
Seems like an odd question to ask ;p
